It’s been a really long time since I’ve knitted the Dragonfly Wings” shawl. I knitted my first BooKnits shawl with twisted stitches during that time. I have enough yarn to make a small shawl out of the “Lunar Witch kit”. Maybe I can create a fade between each skeins. I’ll start with Nightshade (the dark purple) since that’s the smallest skein and work my way to the light-colored skeins.

I added the second skein, “Talisman” when doing the two garter rows and only for those rows. Instead of cutting the yarn, I carried the unused yarn behind the shawl. So far, it’s looking great.

This shawl needs very little yardage. I feel like I’ll have to enlarge it and make it less shallow somehow. I noticed the pattern does the center increase after the 6th row of repeats and does the knit row on the wrong side during the 8th row of repeats. I’ll have to figure out from there when to do certain increases or change yarns to do the garter rows. I’ll knit this way until I run out of the dark purple skein.

At some point, I took a break from this shawl just to play with my Christmas mini skeins/New Year project. Once that project was completed, I returned to this shawl, eager to finish it. I forgot to write what I did. Somehow, I did a fade transition between Nightshade and Talisman, switching colors every four rows a few times and then every 2 rows, all while figuring when to do increases to the middle of the shawl and to do the garter stitch rows. Once I ran out of Nightshade, I replaced it with Luna and continued doing the fade transitions until Talisman ran out. I didn’t have enough yarn to add extra stitches on the sides for the wings and shallow look. So I jumped into the lace section. Even I added purple beads as a last minute decision. I lost the game of yarn chicken after completing row 82. Luckily one of my leftover mini skeins from SpaceCadet’s January gradient bundle was a little similar in color. I had to use up 1 1/4 of the mini skeins to finish the final row with the size 9 needle and the bind off with the size 10 needle.
Now that this shawl is compete, I am happy to say that I used up all of remaining leftovers from the Lunar Witch kit.
