I gave Claire the choice of several blanket styles and she liked this modern two tone in grey and white the best.
I think it is quite appropriate to start on the blanket the evening before Mother’s Day.
When I do mosaic knitting I always feel a little bit like I am cheating ( not carrying the yarn).
5.30. Had to take out 2 1/2 rows, because I was in the wrong part of the pattern. Perhaps I should use a row counter or at least not try to work on this while watching TV.
6.16.: Claire‘s birthday today and I bound off the blanket tonight. A regular bind off seemed too tight, Jenny‘s stretchy bind off too loose. I ended up using Jenny‘s stretchy bind off with a smaller needle (#7) and the tension matches the cast on edge.
6.17. Blocking is a little tricky, getting all the lines straight.
About the yarn: I only gave it four stars, because the color bleeds quite a bit. I don’t recommend it for color work.
It is very soft which is nice for baby.
I like how in mosaic knitting you don’t carry the yarn, thus you are left without loops in the back and the WS looks quite pretty, too, plus you won’t get little fingers caught in loops.
