Cast on with two balls so I did not have to second guess the length of my tail. Here is a link: cast on with two balls of yarn

Then I cut one ball and knitted the first row flat, then joined in the round in the Second row. This way there was no worry about twists.
Did one extra four row repeat to make it wider.
