OK…I just have to try one of these “Elf on a Shelf” toys.

11/15/2014: Started working on my elf again. I’m not very good at crocheting these little arms and legs. This will probably be my practice elf. I’m already thinking of crocheting a girl elf with a little skirt.

Now to work on the tougher section…the face. Stay tuned!

I had originally attached the collar at the bottom but it looked icky so I re-attached it inside and left the bottom edge loose. Much better.

This is my first try at embroidering a face - not easy to do. I may go over it again. The left eye has too much white area.

I have a new appreciation of crocheters who crochet these tiny animals and figures. Those legs and arms aren’t easy to do. I used my crochet marker for the “rounds”. I loved the pattern but in a couple places it didn’t really say what to do clearly. For example, at the beginning with the magic circles it said to “make a 3 or 6 stitch”. Huh? I assumed by “stitch” she meant “single crochet”. Anyhow that’s what I did. Also for the “HEAD” round 4 has a ch 9 which doesn’t make sense so I did 9 single crochets. I did the pattern in rounds (she use “inc around”) so I assumed the pattern was in rounds. It is, I think, one of the cutest “Elf on a Shelf” pattern figures! So thank you very much Jill Watt! Now I think I will try a second one - this time a girl!
