A screenshot from my temperature tracking blanket spreadsheet with my temperature breakdowns. Rather than straight 5° increments, I plotted last year’s temperatures and modified my ranges in the 47-55° range to be smaller, to help avoid giant color clumps, because I want it to tell a story of the temperature but I also want a beautiful blanket.

Yes, there are a lot of ends, but they’ve been knitted in, so I’ll just need to clip them once it’s blocked.

I picked my colors starting with a few (classy in melon bomb, Rios in Ankara green, hhf dk butter) and then expanding to get a palette that I felt all worked nicely together. The reds and oranges ended up in a particularly smooth gradient.

The dates zigzag up and down the blanket. Starting from the right, the odd numbered columns have dates that run from the bottom up, and the even columns the dates start at the top. That means having to wait every other column to knit it (since they’re all knit from the bottom up), but I wanted them to be continuously readable
