28 April 2025: it just dawned on me that it’s almost May, and that I’ve hardly knit anything at all since all of my waking hours have been spent on Swiss darning, picking the right colors for Swiss darning, and dreaming up of future Swiss darning projects.

20 March 2025: handwashed and blocked. Now onto Swiss darning. Will have to flip a coin to see which one I embroider first. I have three blank canvases— limonium apricot, under the midnight moon and this. Choices, choices.

13 March 2025: off the needles. Now just hand wash and block. Then embroider.

10 March 2025: started over a few days ago. I was not loving the dusty rose kidsilk held double. It was just lacking something. It was muted and sort of dull.

New combo for base:
A: hikoo lace light bliss + marzipan kidsilk
B: hikoo lace light petal + dusty rose kidsilk

re: knitting for olive soft silk mohair: it’s very soft indeed… But — and maybe it’s just the particular balls of dusty rose that I got — I’m not 100% impressed. The mohair was sort of clumpy and loopy like Bouclé, and not wispy. I totally appreciate and respect that their yarns are responsibly produced but will probs hesitate buying it in the future unless I absolutely need a color they have.

I really wanted to try out knitting for olive and picked colors that I thought were closest to what the designer had used. The Dusty Rose is more muted and does not have the hint of warm orange-pink that Bois de Rose has. Oh well. C’est la vie.
