I want to make a larger size: 6-12 mo’s so I googled the dimensions and got armpit to armpit should be 12” which would make it 24” around and about 29” long.

Pattern had 84 stitches of pattern repeats which are 12 stitches per repeat which is 7 repeats. 85 stitches at 5 stitches/inch would be 17”.

So,
7 repeats X repeats
---------- = ----------
17” 24”

which yields almost exactly 10 repeats. So 10 times 12 stitches/repeat plus one or 121 stitches to cast on.

Decreases are based on 17 stitch repeats. 85 stitches worked out to exactly 5 repeats. I have 120 stitches which does not work evenly into 17 stitch repeats and I want the sack to be wider at the bottom to allow for get movement so I need to increase too get to a repeat of 17. 8 times 17 is 136 so I need to increase 16 stitches over the length of the sack. I am currently at 3.5 inches and want the sack to be 29” before the decreases so that would be 25.5 more inches so I should increase two stitches every three inches.

Finally got my third skein I had to order so back at it!

4/6/23:
Finished the sack itself by seaming up the bottom and picked up stitches for sleeve straps. Went from size nine to eight to make sturdier and used magic loop to make straps into flat tubes.

Still need to block… I hate blocking!
