Notes

27 July 2015
I’m taking a class at the Denver Public Library (Fresh City Life program offering), taught by the ever fabulous Janny!
All 5 Mondays in August… Calls for five Skeins of Cascade 220 Fingering weight yarn. Will be swatching on 4’s, 5’s, and 6’s…

1st Class. Boy, what a FUSSY pattern! But so very, very, very cool! I don’t understand how the designer came up with this-- I am in awe of her creativity! Made it through row 4. Some notes:

Those KYOK, SB2 sequences should result in the following:
Row 2: 7 new stitches on the right needle/4 new stitches on the left.
Row 4: 6 stitches on the right needle/3 on the left.

There were others, but I neglected to write them down. I’ll put them in when I get to it.

Rows 5 and 9-- knit loose because the following rows have k5tog stitches. If too difficult, you can slip 2 together as if to knit, knit 3 together, pass those two stitches over the k3tog stitch.

If symmetry is important to you, the first k2tog and the last k2tog can be done ssk for the first one and k2tog for the last one.

Increases and decreases are stacked on top of each other, so if they are not, there’s a mistake in your row somewhere. Can’t wait til next week! Janny rocks!!

Decided to rip out what I had and start over and slightly larger US4’s (there’s a difference between my 2 US4’s for some reason…). Like the fabric MUCH better. My 2nd repeat, eh. I think I knitted too loosely. I was trying to relax my knitting. I think I’d rather struggle with the k5tog and get a better fabric… Pattern is cool. And while I don’t have it memorized, I actually understand what is happening in each row, and that makes it much easier to knit and not get lost.

Finished 1st repeat of all color sequences.
