Colours
You will need 4 colours.
Here is the best advice I can give you to pick colours that will give you a great result:
C1 - Pick your favourite of the 4 colours. It will steal the show. I’m using red.
C2 - Make sure C2 contrasts with C1 if viewed through a black and white filter. This is my charcoal.
C3 - If your C1 and C2 are medium to dark, make C3 light. If your C1 and C2 are medium to light, go medium or dark. You will want to have some contrast between the three colours. However, I’ve sketched out a few versions, and I think the balance of the design works best if C1 and C2 are the darkest colours. I’m using a silver grey.
C4 - This is the colour for the hands/nose/beard/hair role, but it may also have other purpose. This is my white.

This gnome is designed for solid/semi-solid colours.
Other than those pieces of advice, pick colours that you love, that you love together, and have fun with it. What colours do you most want to work with in December? As with all gnomes, you get to be the boss, so embrace the yarns you love, and have the fun you want to have.
