Started on size 2 dpns and went up to a 3 on row 23. That way the wrist isn’t too baggy and the hand isn’t too tight.

I struggled to figure out the thumb increases. After unraveling back to the beginning of the increases about 5 or 6 times, I discovered that the best way to increase is to do a regular M1 and wrap both strands around the needle and count them as two stitches on the next round. The pattern creator just told me she uses an M1 stitch but knits into the front and the back of it (M2).

I took a hint from other projects and decided to increase two more than was specified. I did this by adding two more rows before the solid white line just before the top of the thumb (and figuring out where the dots would go in the dotted pattern if it continued), increasing 2 on the 2nd extra row, and then picking back up on the chart at the solid lines (still increasing on that top line). That gave me two more stitches to work for the thumb, and I’m glad I did it. The thumb is now not too tight, and it sets the thumbs down a couple rows.

I switched back to 2’s for the top ribbing on both the thumb and the hand. I ribbed 12 rows instead of 6 for the hand.
