Yarn held double for sportweight. Sized up just a bit to suit my scale for the ornament set.

Made a proper base:
CO 4 using disappearing loop
rnd 1 m1, k1 m1 x4 9st
rnd 2 and all even rnds knit
rnd 3 k1 m1 x9 18 st
rnd 5 k1 m1 k1 x9 27 st
rnd 7 k1 m1 k2 x9 36 st
rnd 9 k1 m1 k3 x9 45 st
rnd 11 k1 m1 k4 x9 54 st

After plain round 12, purl 1 rnd, then begin stranded pattern.

Blocked over a condensed soup can before starting the lid decreases. Stuffed with circles of upholstery foam, with just a little polyfill fiber to smooth out the lid and fill out the spout.
