Gauge:
- Unwashed: 17 sts x 8 rows = 4” in pattern
- Washed: 17 sts x 9 rows = 4” in pattern
The yarn ball band says not to dry this yarn but I dried it anyway. This affected my row gauge.
This cardigan is much more oversized than it appears in the pattern photos. If I were to make this again I would make the sleeves 1” shorter and I would reduce the sleeve upper arm circumference by 2”.
I joined the shoulder seams using slip stitch. I used the woven seam from The Complete Photo Guide to Crochet for the other seams.
I sewed the sleeves to the armholes before sewing the side seams and crocheting the border.
The only changes I made to the pattern were to decrease the upper arm circumference and make the sleeves shorter.
I increased to 63 sts instead of 65 sts for an upper arm circumference of 14.5” instead of 15”.
I crocheted the sleeves 17” long instead of 17.75” long. I changed the sleeve increase rate. I should have made the sleeves 16” long.
-Rows 1-14: increase every other row - 53 sts
-Rows 15-29: increase every 3rd row - 63 sts
-Rows 30-37: work even
I would have liked if the pattern provided a bit more information about how to increase for the sleeves after row 8.
