One Giant Fade?

To knit your shawl as if the colors progress from one side to the other:

1. Arrange the 25 colors in a row in the order of your ideal giant fade.
2. Remove the color in the middle--this is your “C1.” (As you look at the 25 colors in a row, it will be the 13th color, no matter which end you count from.)
3. Looking at the remaining colors, the first 12 are C2 through C13. Count up from the first color on the left, moving right: C2, C3, C4… until you reach the empty spot in the center.
4. For the remaining colors, count up from the last color on the right, moving left: C14, C15, C16…until you reach the empty spot in the center.

Weaving In the Ends

I didn’t weave in any ends. When it was time to switch, I held two yarns together for about 12 stitches. I know this isn’t a revolutionary technique, but for those who haven’t tried this, you should. Since the yarn is fine, I was afraid the “yarn switch spots” would look lumpy and awkward, but it really didn’t effect the outcome. And needless to say, it saves a TON of time.
