Love, love, love these mittens!
Mods: Grafted the saddle closed, knit using magic loop method, and knitted my bobbles using this method - scroll down and choose “Creating Basic Bobble” under decorative stitches(very first set of bobbles on first mitten were too small - not enough pop!).
ETA: I started on row 3 of the thumb chart for the right mitten so that the cable pattern was a mirror image of the left mitten. Don’t forget to add on the additional 2 rows that were skipped at the beginning before starting your decrease if you use this method.

08/24/08 - Whew! Finished just in the nick of time!
08/14/08 - First mitten done! For some reason I can’t get my bobbles to be as bumpy as the others I’ve seen. I’m a pretty tight knitter so I don’t know if it’s that or the yarn.
I’m right on track. I want to start on the second mitten by Sunday. 24 grams for the first mitten. I’m going to knit the second mitten with same ball. It’s a 50 gram ball and if I start to run out I’m sure I’ll have enough to get me to the thumb and then I can start on the second ball.
08/10/08 - I love these! I didn’t truely appreciate the detail in these mittens until I started knitting them - so much detail! These are definitely my most favorite knit ever. I started these on size 3 needles and I didn’t like how loose it was knitting up so changed to size 1. Just finished row 32. This is my first brooklyntweed pattern - very easy to read and very well written.
08/08/08 - CASTING ON!!!! I’m so excited! I love this color and I’m so excited about knitting something for myself!
08/01/08 - Bought my yarn! This yarn has a hint of blue. I can’t wait. I think I may actually knit a swatch I’m so anxious to start!
These are for the Ravelympics so I can’t cast on until 08/08/08! Hmmm - what yarn? I love the yarn in the pattern.
