Not sure which shoulders to do yet

provisional cast on so I can do a knitted hem - you can see the pink tips, just!

thinking about phoney seams

7 Feb - body knitted up to armholes, now to cast on and slog though the sleeves

17 April - I hate knitting tubes! Why did I think having a pair of socks as a second project would give me any respite? Well I’ve shown ‘em - now cast on a swallowtail!

9 May - boring tubes all finished with - now doing the shaping for the saddle shoulder and getting excited that it might actually turn out nicely

14 May - almost ready to do the neck finish then it will be time for DH to try it on before I pick up for the seams - oh I hope it fits!

16 May - bugger bugger bugger - DH says the arms are too tight. It was a bit much for me last night so I had to put the damn thing in time out or I would have taken the scissors to it.

Feb 2010 - It took a long time for me to be able to face this damn thing. I’ve put gussets under the arms which have led to funny bulges, hence the name of this project

The sleeves are still tight but not as bad - read somewhere that this is due to a change in fashion - would have been better having a greater %age of body per sleeve. Too late

Would do rib rather than the garter edging if I ever could bear to do another one (unlikely)

Jan 2012 - DH has decided that he doesn’t want the gussets anymore, so they have been removed - have washed and blocked, so once the amended jumper is dry, we will see if he still likes it. The New Lanark is wearing well - a bit of pilling, but reasonable given the amount of wear DH gives this

April 2015 - I had the extreme pleasure of having to replace the cuffs on this jumper because it is so loved and worn, they were frayed into holes. Amazing to experience the difference between the old, softened yarn and the springiness of the new stitching
