I love this pattern! Luckily I had just the right wool for the project so I started immediately.
I made some small changes to the pattern. First I altered the corner which seemed to me to be too sharp. To do this I knitted three stitches together every second row rather than every row as in the original. This avoided the vertical line of chain stitches.
Because I wanted the cowl to be a good fit at the neck, I added a third line of decreasing in the front centre.
I used this technique every time the pattern changed from stockinette to garter stitch (and vice-versa) to avoid jogs.
I was amazed that the ball of wool was exactly used, with not a single centimetre left over. I had thought about returning this ball but was so glad I kept it! Once made up into the cowl, the yarn colour combination (which I previously thought rather unattractive) looks great with lots of my clothes.
