Inspired by these beautifully simple coasters.

Using up odds and ends of DK & worsted-weight superwash yarn. Our old crocheted coasters are pretty grubby and shabby after six years(!) of use, so I’m making a new set.

1. Start with a magic ring. Chain 2, work 11 dc into magic ring. Join to top of chain.

2. Ch 2, work 1 dc in same place. Work 2 dc into each dc of the previous round. Join to top of chain.

3. Ch 2, work 1 dc in same place. * Work (1 dc, 2dc) into next 2 dc of previous round, repeat from * to end of round. Join to top of chain.

4. Ch 2, work 1 dc in same place. * Work (1 dc, 1 dc, 2dc) into next 3 dc of previous round, repeat from * to end of round. Join to top of chain.

5. Ch 2, work 1 dc in same place. * Work (1 dc, 1 dc, 1 dc, 2dc) into next 4 dc of previous round, repeat from * to end of round. Join to top of chain.

6. With contrasting colour, ch 1, work 1 sc in same place. * Work (1 sc, 1 sc, 1 sc, 2sc) into next 4 dc of previous round, repeat from * to end of round. Join to chain. Weave in ends.
