This is my attempt to gather threaded button making resources. Please let me know if there is anything I should add.

I recently started this craft because I got so frustrated with finding the perfect buttons for my hand-knitted cardigans. Now the challenge is to find the perfect cardigan for my buttons! The pictures are my work using patterns from the resources listed below.

The clock is a collection of my favorite buttons in a shadowbox built by my husband Casey out of recycled pallet wood.

The baby cardigan at the beginning of the pictures was for a Webs Expert Knitting Program “Fearless Finishing” class and a fellow student mentioned Dorset buttons as we discussed the challenges of buttons for a project like this. This is where the journey all started!

The set of eight blue/green buttons were made first and then I found the Merrimack cardigan pattern to knit to go with them. Yes, this is the slippery slope of button making!

Thread - inexpensive starter pack, but stash of fingering yarn works nicely.

Scheepjes Stone Washed/River Washed Colour Pack - nice for larger buttons.
