Toe up, size 3
I will use cascade Snow for the main color and probably Drops Fabel black for the fish. Deciding between the geranium red, “Maple Leaf” variegated, or “Purple Iris” variegated from my stash as the contrast color. Or maybe I’ll use the purple iris as the fish and black as the contrast color. Swatching today to see what looks best. I have a day or so to decide since I will work TAAT toe up.
Though I love the look of the purple iris fishies, the yarn is significantly heavier. I’m regretting this Cascade Heritage. It’s a much lighter fingering weight than any of my other yarns

I really understand second sock syndrome. I am so glad i’m making these TAAT! I have 3” from each toe complete and I can definitely see myself not wanting to cast on the second. I love this pattern, but i think teeny needles and circumference would not be easy to do twice, for me at least. I think partly because this yarn is ridiculously splitty, which made it pretty laborious to do the toe increases. Pair that with my disappointment in the super light weight of the Cascade in comparison to all the other sock yarn I could get my hands on, so I’m already worried that my colorwork will look sloppy, and I’m not even halfway through the foot. If you plan to make these, DEFINITELY get a different yarn than Cascade Heritage!

July 30 I realized the CC yarn I have access to will not work and ordered some online. It is delayed and not here yet. I went to a LYS closing sale about an hour from me today and found a light fingering sock yarn, so hopefully it will work. I will be unraveling the toe contrast and reknitting it in the new color and get to begin the colorwork tomorrow.
I used the lifted invisible increase for the patterns instructions to M1 before the colorwork.

Cut out the contrast toe stripe and knit a row in the new color, then grafted that row to live stitches with kitchener stitch. Its not perfect, but I’m happy with it.
Knitting colorwork and ribbing inside out and not changing needle size
Having tension issues because this Cascade is more like lace weight than light fingering, I asked Ashely for permission to skip the contrast stripe and cuff because it’s bulging in the Jawoll, which is really light fingering. I’m so baffled by this Cascade Heritage Sock….
Bad news… the CC Jawoll bled onto the MC Cascade :(. Bad yarn combination all around.

Ashley’s clear instructions and attention to detail really make her pattern special. She offers the option to knit toe up or cuff down. The contrasting half stripe on the toe really adds to the design. Ashley’s pattern wiring aesthetic is quite pleasing and laid out beautifully. She has clearly written instructions and helpful tutorials linked throughout.
As an inexperienced colorwork AND sock knitter, I think it speaks volumes that I was able to just knit without having to puzzle through, frog, and read-knit sections of these socks.
Five stars!⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
