I started this sometime in 2002.
I used Jaeger Merino Wool and it turned out enormous (I didn’t bother to double check needles etc). I have nearly finished the edging (one quarter to go), which has been hibernating in my cupboard since 2002. I have been using the centre part in our motorhome for those cooler nights. Although the border is clean and bright and the centre a little dull, I will get around to bringing it out from hibernation and completing it, she says!
I can see that it is looking very grubby and desparate for a wash. It was also nibbled on the righthand side (red cotton) by a mouse whilst it was in our old motorhome, so I will have to fix that too.

Decided to finish this before I start another project. Corona virus has given me the urge to complete all unfinished wips.
It will need a good wash after completion because it’s been hanging around in various cupboards for years :)

Kitchener stitched one and bit sides last night. I just hope I have enough yarn (2 balls) to complete the edging.

The start and finish dates are correct - 17 years to complete! - is that a record?
Because it took so long the body has darkened over time and the border is clean. Hopefully it will even out after a wash. Once washed I will post photos x
I must add that I played yarn chicken and lost so the final part of the border Is missing a “Tooth” for want of s better description x

It’s washed and blocking as I type this. The centre still looks grubby in the photo but not when I look at the article itself, very strange indeed.
I didn’t enjoy the blocking because it took up the whole of the free carpet area in my spare bedroom and was a very tight squeeze, so there was no adjustments at all. Glad is done and I can now start another project knowing there are no WIPs hiding in my cupboards - or is there?
