Notes

I made the name plural because I’m hoping this will be the first of many experiments. These little shawls seem perfect for playing with nature dyeing. They are quick and easy to knit and nobody can have too many cozy little shawls.

On this first one I used:

1 cup of pokeberries
1/4 cup vinegar
3/4 cup boiling water

I put the shawl and above ingredients in a quart jar and stirred just a bit. Then I put the jar in the microwave and heated a couple of minutes. I wrapped it in towels and left it to sit all day and overnight.

I finished shawl #2 today. Who knows what color it will wind up?

I finished #3. This time I measured, so that I can dye the yarn if I want to. It took 8 yards.

Shawl #2 got dyed in black walnut leaves. Info about my process on the stash page.

Shawl #3 was claimed in its undyed state by my grandsweetie and went home with her.
