Finished this a day before a road trip to Roswell, NM! The pattern calls for 80 stitches @ 18 stitches/ 4 inches which would result in about a 17.75” circumference. That seems way too small. My head is 23” so I’m going to aim for a finished size closer to 20” by doing more columns between the graphics.

85g total (probably a bit more black than green)

• 2x2 italian cast on of 88 stitches with 4.5mm (US 7) -- add two black stitches to the end of each chart row
• p2, k2 for 2”

I decided to do black ribbing and then helical knit the crown. I’m using a combination of trapping floats and some ad hoc ladder-back jacquard ladders to help manage long floats. I think I will either omit the white in the eyes, or duplicate stitch them after.

I held black as the dominant yarn for some reason; not what I meant to do but at least I was consistent throughout.

With 88 stitches cast on I should do one extra decrease round a the crown:
