May 1: Knitting the cardigan. My first experience using this lovely soft wool.
May 9: One sleeve almost complete.
May 16: 2nd sleeve complete.
Start body of cardigan in the round.
There is an error on US needle size in the “yoke combining body and sleeve instructions.” 5 mm is not a US #7. A 5 mm is a US #8.
(Instructions for Yoke: Combining the body and the sleeves indicate to use 5 mm/US 7.
5 mm is not a US #7. It is a #8). I had actually changed from my US #8 to #7 when starting yoke and made several rows on the #7, but when you get to the lace pattern those instructions indicate to use 4.5 mm/US 7. Ripped out several rows to get back to working on the US # 8 for starting yoke.
May 25: Back to combining body to sleeves for yoke.
June 4: Not overly fond of the “Earth” shade with “Peat” and “Pumice”. I decided on two more shades to consider for replacement, “Drought” which is pale sky-like blue and “Bittersweet” a mid tone smoky brown. After viewing photos of the mountain, all work well, including the Earth and Peat, however, my first instinct is to go with Drought and Bittersweet with Pumice. appearing atmospheric and ethereal, symbolic of what I’d like the sweater to represent, so the Pumice, Drought and Bittersweet work well for this piece. Stashing the Peat and Earth.
June 20: Soaked in Eucalan and pinned to block. Just need to sew buttons and crochet loops.
July 7: Finished sewing buttons and loops using 15 mm genuine horn buttons.
I’ve learned how to crochet a button band, edging, provisional cast-on and button loops.
