My first crochet project. Good thing I’m more of a process than a product crafter. V1 I realized I had missed the two dc into the centre gap that creates the triangle. V2 I got about 12 rows done, as seen in first photo after yarn shot, when I realized I was chaining four instead of three as the pattern calls for between dcs. I mean, this is a super clear, super easy pattern and I’m an idiot for not reading it correctly. V3 and V4 were just me being tired, and now I’ve done about as much on V5 as I had to frog for V2. It’s only been two days since I started and it’s going quickly. At least I’ve had lots of opportunity to practice my dc before making a keeper? smiley

Also, somewhere around V2 or V3 I remembered that cakes are supposed to be centre pull. Much yarn barf, but I think I have that going now, too.

So much learning.

Working on the shell border and ngl I feel like a magician for figuring it out. It’s probably the most simple thing but I was super intimidated by it, and had to Google each stitch then string them together. Really amazed how well this is coming together for a first-ever project.

Happy with myself for planning ahead and leaving a bit of each colour transition to make the fringe with so it has at least a bit of each of the colours of the cake. I really enjoyed this pattern - great beginner project, and great way to nail down the dc muscle memory. This will be a gift to a lovely human who makes me happy, because she’s the same vintage as me and will remember having had crochet ponchos like this in childhood.
