Notes

I can’t remember the last time I have had so much fun knitting.

I think, if knitted in worsted yarn, these socks would make a lovely Christmas stocking.

I used size 2 dpns for the cast on, size 1 for the cuff, and size 0 for the leg and foot.
I knit (I think) 38 rounds in the foot.
The socks are mirrored, with the exception of the cast on and Latvian braid.
Due to knitter’s error, the heel and sole were mixed up, left heel/sole on the right sock and vise versa.

Kihnu troi braided cast on, I remember this from last year… I mean, I remember it taking me forever to get my head around it.

Bad news, I’m not gonna have enough yarn for a pair. At first I thought to maybe just make leg warmers or gauntlets , but I think I’m just gonna power through and have 1 finished sock.

Plus, it took me 7 rows to figure out that the gusset charts correspond to the leg/instep chart

Shh! Don’t tell anyone, but I must have effed up somewhere in the heel flap and I fudged it to meet the pattern. Oh and also I mistakenly knit the right heel turn instead of the left. Whoopsie.

I love knitting these socks! I just wish I could stop worrying about yarn chicken.
I’m going to make a scrap blanket to use up all of my “not enough for a pair of socks” yarns so I can justify buying new full skeins of yarn for next year.

One sock done!

Because of my heel mistake, I had to continue to use the right sole pattern and toe for my left sock. I don’t think you could tell. I have to remember to use the left heel, sole and toe for my right sock though.
And….
I think I might have enough fluormania! According to my scale, my first sock only used a little more than 30 grams, approximately 138 yards and I have 50 grams left!
But I’m not going to get my hopes up.

I’m going to do the exact same cast on as the first sock, as it’s fresh in my mind, I’m not going to worry about reversing it.

Finished my second sock, it’s mirrored, with the exception of the cast on and the Latvian braid.
It would have been done earlier if i didnt have to go to work.
