I’m knitting this for my eldest grandchild, Miele, who will be 11 in a couple of months. She’s asked me to knit her a “colourful” blanket for her new bed; in doing so, I’m going to use up some aran and fingering scraps.

Mods: I’m knitting smaller ‘geese’ in panels (smaller than the pattern, this is) which I will then seam or 3-needle cast-off, finishing with an I-cord edging.

I’m casting on/picking up 68sts at the base of each triangle, and about 44 sts along each side. It’s not a terribly precise procedure, more bumbling along with the best of intentions.

Yarn: the cream is mostly Cygnet 4-ply (2 strands) and Drops Nepal/Drops Alaska; the ‘geese’ are, again, various shades of Cygnet 4-ply, plus loads of hand-dyed scraps (eg Eden Cottage Yarns, Posh Yarn, Lioness Arts).

22.6: almost finished the ‘geese’ panels, now to sew together. It looks great, but I will be very glad to reach the finishing post…

29.6: the mega-monster-blanket! I was going to add an applied I-cord edging, but I couldn’t get the tension quite right and didn’t think it particularly needed it in the end. A couple of the hand-dyed sections have leaked slightly after a wash, which is disappointing (but a risk you always take); but overall I’m extremely pleased with this. I’m certainly very pleased it’s finished!
