Using the 3.5mm for a tighter fabric and hopefully a smaller shawl.
I’ve been wanting to try this pattern for aaaaages and was tossing up whether to do the rectangle version but then I realised that omits the super pretty border so going with the original instead.
Using the alternative turning chain technique instead of the ch 3/4, etc.
Soooo much easier than it looks, it’s just shells!
Okay, learnt the hard way that I need to count my stitches in the middle of every row to make sure I have the same number on each side of the centre marked space/stitch.
Row 14: 58
Row 15: 32 (only dcs, not counting ch sps)
Row 16: 66
Row 17: 70
Row 18: 9 small, 8 big
Row 19: 10 small, 9 big
Row 20: 10 big, 9 small
Row 21: 11 big, 10 small
Row 22: 11 small, 11 big
Row 23: 11 small, 11 big
Row 24: 11 big, 12 small (counting the centre)
Row 25: 102
Row 26: 106
Row 27: 56 dcs (not counting ch sps)
Row 28: 114
Row 29: 118
Row 30: 15 small, 14 big (not counting the middle)
Row 31: 16 small, 15 big
Row 32: 16 big, 16 small
Row 33: 17 big, 16 small
Row 34: 17 small, 17 big
Row 35: 17 big, 18 small
Row 36: 19 small, 18 big
Row 37: 150
Row 38: 154
Row 39: 80 (not counting ch sps)
Row 40: 162
Row 41: 166
Used about a quarter of the third skein. One obvious mistake in the border because I couldn’t bear the thought of redoing two whole rows. Really should have checked each row of the border before moving onto the next.
But still pretty happy with it.
