I purchased this yarn on a trip to Japan, so what better to use for a travel project when going back?

My goal was to finish this on the trip and wear it to visit the shop again (and buy more yarn ), but I had some struggles at the end which stopped me from getting it done in time.

I followed the stitch count the pattern gave when picking up for the neckline, but forgot that the shoulder straps were measured in inches, not rows. Apparently my gauge wasn’t spot on (I swear I did actually swatch this one ) so the number they gave resulted in a super floppy collar that I had to rip out. Take my total time below with a grain of salt because I was so annoyed the second time through that I stopped keeping track.

I really love the edging on the armholes in this pattern. The instructions were a bit bewildering when I read through them the first time, but actually doing it proved to be really straight forward. I think it’s one of those things that’s just difficult to put into words. If I were to make this cami again, I would try doing the neckline like the armholes instead of the ribbing. I think it would make the whole thing look more cohesive, not to mention I wouldn’t have to do that annoying tubular bind-off again. I did get the hang of it after a while, but ripping out a sewn bind-off really gives you a lot of time to contemplate lighting the whole project on fire.

This is one of those pieces I think you could get away with not blocking if you didn’t want to, but I was blocking another top at the same time anyway, so why not. It did smooth out the stitches and it feels a bit more polished as well. All in all, super happy with this one. Definitely recommend this pattern!
