14 sts with magic cast on is approx. 16 cms yarn.

Cast on 28 sts, increased to 70. Using Barbara Walker’s Horizontal Chain mosaic pattern on both top and bottom of foot. Will use gusset (in reverse) from Stephanie van der Linden’s Ravelry Store Symmetry. This will involve gauge and length calculations and a slight adjustment of the heel flap but otherwise should be fairly straightforward.

Ok, didn’t slip stitches in gusset because I figured the difference in tension over such a relatively small number of rows wouldn’t cause too much of a pucker.

Start gusset increases on row 7 (main colour) of fifth pattern repeat. Increase 12 sts each side. At the end of row 24 (row 6 of pattern) increase second side of gusset to 18 sts (contrast colour). On row 25 of gusset (row 7 of pattern) increase first side of gusset to 18 sts then turn heel (11-13-11) and work heel flap, all in main colour. Continue around with row 8 of pattern.
