I had to drop to a 1.5 mm to get tight enough stitches on the 220 fingering, so I used that hook for everything.

I love this pattern. It’s written out in great detail, which really helps you make the flowers correctly, as well as gets you through the relatively complex steps of putting it together. The shaping from the way the motifs come together is brilliant, particularly on the head.

I did change the wings slightly, I wanted them a little floppier.

If you have been admiring the African Flower motif animals, Heidi’s Fat Little Owl pattern is a great introduction. I think it would be a lot harder to start with one of the larger animals and presumably more complex construction.
