When traveling in Iceland with my brother and his girlfriend, she admired the lopapeysa there for sale. I assured her I could make her one to her specs. When our cruise pulled in to Bergen I hit up the yarn store and stocked up on jewel tones.

I used Stitchfiddle to experiment with color choices and arrangements, which was a great tool and well worth the month fee. It was SO easy to then change around colors in the pattern as a bloc and get a better idea of how things would look.

I used a tubular cast on for the neck. I did 4 pairs of short rows before the yoke color work and another 3 pairs after but before separating the sleeves. I later picked up and did ribbing at the sleeve opening to make it a “vest”.

To make it more fitted (at the request of the recipient) I decreased a pair at each side marker every 10 rows x 4 on the body, then increased every 10 rows x 2 to the bottom ribbing. Did tubular sewn bind off.

Even with soaking in vinegar, then Eucalan, this wool is pretty itchy. I have her several long sleeve tees to wear under it.
