Like in my previous socks, I went for this „Turkish, wrapped“ cast on - instead of Judy’s - though actually two at at time, as shown here.
I’ve longe wanted to finally make these cute socks out of the yarn left from my previous pride socks Rut Regnbåge , and since sock knitting actually is perfect summer knitting - and I don’t have any hangups about casting on another pair before the ones I just started are finished - this seemed like the perfect opportunity to double dip and partake in both #YarnestySummerKAL20 and #RegenbogenKAL2020

My feet are size 40-41, but since my gauge is hopelessly loose - and I’ve come to understand that a bit of negative ease doesn’t hurt when it comes to at least fine knit socks - I’ve decided to knit size S (56 stitches) and hope that will work out fine. For my Tant Ruta, I only went down to 64, but since it had stranded knitting they are still not all too big.

when knitting (or life) attacks
This summer was an all time low when it comes to knitting, and these socks were seemingly cursed, as I made many errors that I at first was too miffed to even deal with. When I realized I had reached my foot length already after three out of my eight colors however, I decided to rip back and make sure I’d fit four color stripes before the heel. modification: skipping 7 rounds of main color after the toe increases. #socktober here we go!

So Socktober came and went, but my socks are still only halfway done …
Well, now that I’ve reached heel length again, I’ve decided to do the GSR heel instead of an afterthought one. I returned to the Tant Ulltuss heel tutorial (in Swedish; for English I used this one on my first pair of Boomerang-heel socks =) Another modification is that I’ll try to avoid the instep to get too tight by increasing the amount of heel stitches before starting the short rows, as described here! Last but not least, it’s obvious I have terrible laddering issues going on up along the sides, but I can’t cope with any knit related stress at the moment, and just hope blocking will do miracles

So, I’m not going to blame the pattern, but this turned out to be the veeeeeery long final act to the slowest knitting year this century for me - despite Corona curfews and potentially more knitting time. It seems my mojo was out the window, and my mind wandering off the pattern, because only when the knitting of these restarted socks was actually finished did I realize that I have apparently missed the fact that the flowers are supposed to be offset and not set in straight lines
Oh well! But _why_ didn’t I know about the weavin’ Stephen method before I started? Had I suppressed the memory of weaving in the ends of my other pair of rainbow socks? … Also, I’m afraid there are huge ladders along the sides, but maybe a real nice bath will make them look fine.
Luckily, a very knit worthy friend has said she loves them, so that I really want to get them finished more than I just want to bury them out of sight and mind forever!
