This cute top was designed by Yeon Hwa Lee (Lucy or AtelierAjou on Ravelry) except that I added my own sleeve design. Lucy’s pattern includes 3 options - sleeveless (shown in my previous project photos for the test), fitted short sleeves and long sleeves. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the sleeve options in Lucy’s pattern. They are all lovely. I just wanted my sleeves to be very loose, shorter and a bit ruffled looking. We have very warm weather here in California which is another reason for loose fitting, shorter sleeves. Please note that lace weight yarn is required (held single) for this top. Therefore, it’s very lightweight. Surprisingly, it’s not very see-through, though. For notes on the body of this pullover, please see my previous project page entitiled “Beach Wave Top (Test Knit).”

My sleeves are knit bottom-up, starting in the round and finishing up knitted flat with short rows. But instead of doing a wrap and turn or double-stitch, stitches are bound off at the beginning of each row. The sleeves are very easy to make, and are sewn into the garment by hand (mattress stitch) when finished. Although my instructions are for the size I knitted for myself, I also have suggestions for how to make them smaller or larger to fit your own Beach Wave Top. Although I knit the smallest size in Lucy’s pattern, I lengthened the armholes about 2 inches because I’m tall. My armhole circumference is about 20 inches (50.8 cm), so my instructions (as written) may even work for a size 2, 3 or 4 top.

I steam blocked this only, so I won’t be throwing this one in the dryer.
