I started working on this while Joel and I were on vacation this summer - I feel like his mother, Jean, has given me so many wonderful gifts with her quilting abilities, and I wanted to pay that back to her. So I found a blue yarn that seemed perfect - she told me ages ago that blue is her favourite colour, but everyone tells her to wear red instead because it looks good on her. I say, wear the colours you love. I worked on this as Joel and I drove to Sanibel, then spent most of the time there continuing to work on it. I worked on it on and off during family vacation in Emerald Isle, mostly because I wanted it to be a surprise for her and if she saw me working on it, that wouldn’t really be a surprise! It became a birthday gift, one I hope will bring her much happiness and show her how much I love being a part of her family.
