A classic hexagon granny meets a more modern granny stitch done all in a line.

Using an inline granny stitch. Note carry yarns up each row. ( I discovered this half through) Hexagon shape jacket. Alternate granny stitch in Gnome and 24/7 cooton in blk chain 3 in each space between including corner turns.
