Notes

I’m going to use 2.25mm needles to make the finished size about 1/2” smaller, 7-1/2” instead of 8”. I worked 4 reps of the pattern and decided to measure them because they seemed wide and they’re 8-1/4” in circumference. They’re too big so I’m going to rip them out and use 2mm needles. With 2mm needles the socks are 7-7/8” in circumference. They’re snug to get over my high instep and fit on my ankle so this will work.

After 7 reps of the pattern plus 3 rounds of the 8th rep the socks are 5-1/4” long at the points and 4-7/8”long at the middle of the swoop unstretched . They used 32.7g (130.1m/142.6y). There’s 65.5g left.

After working 6 reps on the heel flap it’s 1-5/8” long. I’m going to work 3 more reps, which should be about 2-1/2” long. After 9.5 reps the heel flap is 2-3/4” long. Perfect. blush

I finished the heel flap, heel turn, and the joining round. Because I needed more reps of the heel flap I need to decrease 11 stitches/side on the gusset (22 rnds). It used 8.5g (33.8m/377.1y). There’s 57g left.

After 13 reps plus the first 3 rounds the sole is 6-1/2” long. The gusset decreases and foot used 27.5g (109.5m/120y). There’s 29.5g left.

Time to do the toe decreases.

Finished the socks. They used 75.1g (298.9m/327.4y). Before blocking the leg from the top of the swoop to the bottom of the heel flap is 7-3/8” long unstretched x 8-1/4” in circumference. The foot is 8-1/2” long x 8-1/4” in circumference.

After blocking the leg from the top of the swoop to the bottom of the heel flap is 7-1/4” long unstretched x 7-7/8” in circumference. The foot is 8-1/4” long x 8” in circumference.

The two balls weighed 49.6g and 48.6g = 98.2g.
