Notes

My housemates and I marathoned the Lord of the Rings movies one day, and it was a little late at night and there was quite a bit of wine and one thing led to another led to me seeing a fell beast and announcing that I could probably knit that. (It was the holes in the wings that did it. They looked like yarn-overs.)

I used Hansi Singh’s Loch Ness monster pattern for the body (which is fabulous and so well-written and I’m looking forward to making an actual entire Loch Ness monster).

Theoretically, I’m using the wings from Barbara Prime’s bat pattern (also supercute and I can’t wait to knit it in its proper entirety), as soon as I can figure out how to double them in size. My math has been weak lately, so this is in hibernation until I feel like fiddling with it again.

I’m not sure yet what I’m doing for the legs.

I’ve mathed out the wings and nearly finished one.

Finally took this out of hibernation and, after repeated froggings, managed to get the left wing right. I’m half-done with it right now

Wings: on! He’s currently actually really aerodynamic, though that’s going to change as soon as I figure out how to do the legs.
