Notes

Gauge: 22 sts × 30 rows.

Size of shawl:
before blocking: 43 cm × 123 cm,
blocked: 52 cm × 158 cm, garter ridge is 193 cm long.

I intend to use up all of the skein so I am going to knit the shawl bigger than the original size by repeating charts more times than prescripted in the pattern. Since this project is a test knit, I will have the help of the designer to calculate the number of repeats.

Original weight of skein: 95 g.
Weight of WIP shawl and {remaining yarn}:
after 3rd A&B charts: 12 g {83 g}, 197 sts;
after 4th A&B charts: 19 g {76 g}, 245 sts;
after 5th A&B charts: 28 g {67 g}, 293 sts;
after 6th A&B charts: 38 g {57 g}, 341 sts;
after 1st C chart: {45 g}, 389 sts - from now on I won’t note the weight of knitted work since it would contain the weight of beads too;
after 2nd C chart: {32 g}, 437 sts;
after 3rd C chart: {19 g}, 485 sts;
after 4th C chart: {2 g}, 533 sts. This amount of yarn lasted for the first 2 rows of Chart D.

The remaining rows of Chart D is worked using Malabrigo Silkpaca.

Final stitch count: 713 sts. Beaded the 1st, then every 4th st while bind off.

Changes I made in the pattern:

  1. Used 33 g transparent red Toho 8/0 beads. Where I placed additional beads: in chart C rows 1-8 in every RS row on stitch nr. 20, 26, 32, 38, 44, 50, 56; in chart C rows 9-16 in every RS row on stitch nr. 8, 20, 32, 44, 56, 68; in bind off: the 1st, then every 4th stitch (including the last stitch too).

  2. Enlarged size of shawl (see details above).

  3. In chart B, row 5, stitches nr. 10 and 42: I purled the front and then the back loop of the stitch instead of knitting both loop, since they would be knitted in the next row (WS) creating a new rib in the shawl.
