11.10.2016

Round of single crochet worked around each square ready for individual blocking.

22.10.2016

All 35 individual squares pinned out and blocking out to 6” square.

26.10.2016

Squares all sewn together ready for a second blocking to get the seams nice and flat.

Used blocking wires along all horizontal seams and top and bottom edges of blanket -the variation in tension is most noticeable on the horizontal seams because of the bias of some of the lace patterns.

Rather than a full blocking just spritzed over with water and stretched/tweaked the to try and encourage everything in to place.

29.10.2016

76 repeats of lace border pattern finished (3 per square and 4 corner repeats).

Worked row of double crochet along inside edge of lace border so that this seam will match all those joining the individual squares.

Tacked lace border in to place ready to sew in place. Removed provisional cast on and grafted ends of lace border together with kitchner.

30.10.2016

Border sewn in to place and blocking number 3 in progress -this time to pin out the points of the lace edging and give everything a final stretch.

Next job is to sew in all the loose ends. And there are lots of them……

31.10.2016

All finished, blocked and ends weaved in. It took a good few hours to get rid of all of those tails.

Happy with the finished result, but the amount of finishing that this project took has done me in !
