Notes

I am making this for my wedding on May 9, 2015. I am hoping for a nice day, but would love to get to use something I made as well. :) I thought I had better get going as I knit a little slow and want to actually have it done by the wedding. I also plan on doing one big piece, rather than trying to graft 2 pieces together, as the last thing I grafted was less than perfect. We will see how this project comes together!

12.30.14: Looking into gauge and drape for this project. Tried out a few rows on size US 5 needles and it just had too stiff of a feeling. I want a much more drapey look and airy feeling, so I will try out some US 7 or US 8 needles.

1.6.15: After swatching with the 5 mm needles, I decided that was a good drape and density. I finally got back around to this, and cast on tonight. I CO the full 88 that the pattern calls for. So far it’s a fairly quick and simple pattern. To simplify, I placed stitch makers between each pattern repeat.

1.22.15: I have reached 2 full pattern repeats. I need to get going on this. I was able to pin it out on my blocking cardboard, and it is about 10” long and 24” wide. I think those will be good measurements moving forward.

1.26.14: Since the 22nd, I’ve gotten another 2 repeats done! And not stopping there tonight. I’m hoping to join the second ball before being done for the night, which I expect should happen by the end of the 5th repeat. We’ll see I suppose.

2.2.15: Finished with 6.5 pattern repeats as of today. The first ball of yarn was enough to complete exactly 4.5 pattern repeats. I would need more yarn to get the length I need, and have ordered it.

2.15.15: I am almost done with the 2nd ball of yarn, and almost to 9 repeats. I estimate I will be working about 14-15 repeats of the pattern, and ending after row 13, so it will look more symmetrical. I got my 4th ball of yarn, so I should have enough yardage-wise.

3.14.15: Last night I finished the 11th repeat and laid out to block to get about what size it is. Still was about 15” short so I am planning on another 3 or 4 repeats. We’ll see when I get closer to the end.

4.12.15: I am finished with 13.5 repeats going to go to 15. It seems like this pattern has been dragging on for too long. The goal is to get this done by the end of the week!

4.15.15: I finally have this one cast off the needles, ends woven in and has been washed and is blocking out now! The finished length was 15 full repeats. I am so excited and thrilled to have it finished and ready for our wedding…only 3 weeks and 2 days away! Pictures coming later!
