Notes

This is the second hat I have made with this pattern, which I have been making for the kids where I work. They are outside for a while, but don’t all have hats all the time, but I thought I could make some for them to wear when it is so cold out. They seem to be a real hit!

For this hat I CO 42 sts, then did two extra rows before I started the regular pattern decreases. The stripes are four rows of red and two rows of black repeated up the body of the hat. I did this because I didn’t have enough of one color to make the whole hat. I also skipped the pom pom for this hat because I thought the stripes were enough embellishment.

Modifications:
Decreasing:
R1: k5, k2tog, repeat to end of row
R2: knit around
R3-end, continue in pattern.
