Used yarn-over short rows as I struggled with using W&T methods using Delight due to splitting and I could not figure out how to have two short rows on the same stitch with German short rows .
Excellent tutorial: https://yarnsub.com/articles/techniques/double-short-rows/
How I applied it to this pattern: knit the number of stitches instructed, where it says wrap and turn, turn the work, add the YO as per short row instructions and knit back.
On rows where you add the second “wrap”, knit the number of stitches instructed and do the same, you end up with two YOs.
In rows with p2w, knit the 3 stitches as per instruction and then knit the following true stitch together with the two wraps, turn work and add a YO!
Construction: started with leaf, cast on 10 stitches with contrast colour following other users
Knitting the leaf and stem followed laurashoots instructions to avoid MC showing through the CC and avoid dropping stems. On one leaf where I tried to purl table there is a blip of colour, 3rd leaf from the bottom.
WS of the leaf - knit first stitch in increase rows, follow instruction on decrease rows
Decrease on left side in MC - K2tog two stitches before the last stitch, knit two last stitches, turn and knit as usual. Makes a neater edge I feel and helps open up the leaf shape by lifting the end of the row.
Edge
Not wanting to deal with ends, tried knitting an integrated icord. It was as too tight without an extra row of icord and left a gap with one; KFB following instructions jnhouston3 I felt was too chaotic-looking. Will carry the yarn on the side and deal with it later.
Applied crocheted icord looked a mess for me.
Picked up stitches along the edge to do a icord bind-off. Looks good on the right side but does not conceal the carry-over yarn on the wrong side
Tried using Icelandic bind-off but I can’t seem to make it stretchy enough! Frizzyknits bind off worked much better for me and my yarn, many thanks for sharing! http://frizzyknits.blogspot.co.uk/2011/03/super-stretchy-...
Disappointed with Delight: had a break in yarn and an abrupt colour change, feel like a colourful section was missed so the colours of the shawl could have been more varied, as it stands there is mostly pinks with just one band of green but I was too far into the knitting to rip, buy a new ball and start again. Note to self: always rewind colour change yarn to know what you’re working with, do not knit from skein.
