Started this blanket at the end of July after a failed attempt at the Sleeping Beauty blanket, I could never get that pattern sorted out.
I frogged almost an entire blanket and switched to the Zimmerman Square Shawl because of these beauties:
TimidTurtle - M & J’s godparents baby blanket
PattiLink - Blanket for Brooks
jackedge - EZ Square Shawl
buttonknits - Blanket of Doom
The yarn worked out great, my only complaint is that the skeins are small so lots more ends to weave in.
I knit 16 rows in the stockinette sections, 2 border rows of garter on the tops and bottoms of each pattern change and 12 rows in each pattern (except I did mess one of them up and ended up with 14 rows of the pattern stitch instead of 12).
The 1st pattern section is alternating (by row) K2,P2, then P2,K2 (Double Seed stitch?)
The 2nd pattern section is a Diagonal Demi Brioche stitch; an even number of stitches is required.
Rows 1 and 3: purl
Row2: Sl 1 wyib, YO, K1, pass SL ST over the YO and K1 stitches, rep from
Row 4: K1, rep from of Row 2across to the last st, K1.
The 3rd pattern section is Moss stitch.
The 4th pattern section is Double Moss stitch.
I wanted a closed border in the last pattern section so switched to M1L and M1R for increases and did them every other row as with the yarn overs, and in the second stitch before and after the center stitch (between the yarn overs). This is why there is a little stockinette channel above the yarn over spines in the corners.
I finished with an i-cord bind off, it worked out great, both mom and baby Amaya loved it!
