I ended up not having enough yarn to finish the project. I ripped out the button placket and redid it in a matching pink that gives a nice finish/contrast to the piece.

I knit the yarn to have a nice drape, and got a 4st/inch gauge, so I had to convert the entire pattern to fit my gauge so I would get a small sweater for a 4mo. Conversion factor for the pattern and my gauge was 0.833. I’m probably 4/5th way through and it is looking great.
