This yarn.

This … heckin’ … yarn.

The Diadem DK is a single-ply silk-alpaca blend. This yarn was unsuitable for a cable-knit hat (frogged twice), some texture-work mittens (frogged once), and even this lovely lace-knit shawl. (Frogged twice, but finished.

This yarn GRABS itself. It clings. It snarls. It lovingly grafts itself, stitch to stitch. I ended up going up in needle size from the pattern because the lacework WOULD NOT SHOW, lost in a haze of soft silken tendrils.

This yarn, y’all. It is my nemesis.

So I went up in needle size, and everything was going well. Except … except going up in size meant, CRAP, I no longer had enough yarn to finish.

The yarn is discontinued, and out of stock EVERYWHERE.

So I ordered a close match, in fingering-weight, and used it doubled. (Hence the color change.) AND I RAN OUT OF YARN AGAIN. Because the larger stitch size meant I mis-estimated how much to order. GOSH GOLLY DINGITY DANGIT.

This yarn is out to get me.

So I just bound it off and said ENOUGH.

The shawl is done. The yarn has BEEN USED IN A PROJECT, HAH.

I’m going to wear this scarf like a trophy. Like the shattered shields of my foes, I will brandish it as a WARNING to ALL THE OTHER YARN IN MY STASH, get in line and shape up, buckos, because I will knit you.
