Notes

Jonathan saw his sister’s Hitchhiker: http://www.ravelry.com/projects/suzymarie/hitchhiker and asked for one in red. He has read the book series and liked the concept and the scarf.

We chose madeline tosh sock in Tart. It is an absolutely beautiful red, especially for a man’s scarf. However, the mad tosh sock and I did not bond well. The twist hurt my fingers after lengthy knitting sessions and left red dye on my hands. But I persevered and did some Ravelry research. After reading the sad sagas here: http://www.ravelry.com/discuss/madelinetosh-lovers/125561... , I took the finished scarf and soaked, baked, rinsed, soaked again and blocked. The process seemed to help the bleeding. So discouraging.

The finished scarf looks beautiful and feels amazing….squishy, soft and warm. He has taken it back to college, wears it every day and has hinted at how nice it would be to have one in a hunter green. Let the yarn search begin!
