This was such fun to knit!! The pattern is detailed and clear. I had to name this gnome #1 because there will be more.

I used Madelinetosh tosh merino light yarn. To get a tight knit fabric with this yarn, I used 2.5mm and 2.25mm needles. Using a single ply yarn with these needles made it a bit more fussy and fiddly but worth it!!! Love the results.

For the beard, I used a strand of tosh light and silk cloud. It created a fuzzy haze and slightly marled look.

I left the arms off…can always add those later. I also modified the nose by using a bunny tail pattern for it (Little Cotton Rabbits).

Update 8/19/17- Gnome #2
This gnome was knit in a worsted weight using US size 5 and 6 needles. I used Cascade 220 for the hat and body. For the beard, I held two strands of Knit Picks Stroll in Dove Heather and 1 strand of Shibui Knits Silk Cloud in white. I followed the directions for the larger gnome

Update 8/20/17- Gnome #3 So…yes…another. A medium size one knit with madelinetosh tosh light. If I knit this size Gnome again ( “if”….are you laughing?), I would add some knit only rows between the increases on the hat to make it a bit taller.
