I have always admired the Puerperium cardigans in intense colors with a line of bright buttons. I had to try it as a bunny dress.

My modifications: I used a long tail cast on of 26 stitches and started placing markers and doing increases on the first knit row as follows:

Slp k2, pm, kfb k2 kfb, pm, kfb k3 kfb ,pm, kfb k2 kfb, pm,
kfb k5 kfb, pm, k3

I did approximately 9 increase rows until I thought the sleeves would comfortably fit the bunny’s arms. I did not add length to the sleeves, I knit three garter ridge cuffs. I also did not move the sleeves to waste yarn to finish them as the pattern suggested. Instead I finished them as I do following this sweater pattern here I find it much easier.

As I knit across the the dress finishing the sleeves, I increased the front and back panels by doing a kfb in each stitch (not the garter edgings) to create a full skirt. I knit the dress until it was long enough for the bunny and finished with a garter ridge hem.

I did add buttonholes and place markers at the end of each buttonhole row to match them up. But the garter border had no problems stretching over the tiny buttons. So in the future, I will not bother with buttonholes for such a small dress.

The bunny was knit on 2.75 mm needles using Filatura di Crosa Zara yarn in Latte 1773.
