Notes

This is a simpler version of the original Strawberry Blossom Dress which can be found here. I knit this version last year and just finished the chart for it. I modified the leaves into a simpler colorwork pattern. They are a bit thinner but still give the desired effect.

I used a long tail cast on of 96 stitches and 12 repeats of the chart shown on the left. The pink areas on the chart are purl stitches which give a dimpled effect on the stockinette skirt. The skirt can be modified to be as long or as short as needed.

The garter stitch border is a three row garter stitch hem. But I have discovered that knitting a 5 row garter stitch hem, rather than the three the chart shows, helps keep the skirt from curling. The long tail cast on counts as the first row.

For decreases and in the round knitting, I followed my usual modifications found here

The crochet blossom flower is done in fingering weight yarn with a 2.25mm hook. Make a magic circle then pull the working yarn through the circle and “chain 2, make one double crochet, chain 2 and slip stitch into the circle” five times for five petals. Pull tight and secure ends when finished. The yellow center is a double knot of double stranded fingering yarn pulled through and secured. The tiny leaves next to the flower were a bit of a guessing game…..chain 5 and sc, dc, dc, sc along both sides until each one looked right.

The adorable capelet pattern is linked above.

The bunny was knit using 2.75mm needles and Sublime Merino extra fine DK in caramel.
