I previously made my friend Erica a Smooth Sailing Blanket for her first baby. Now she has a second on the way!

I decided to do a double-knit blanket, much like the Winter Wonderland Afghan that was my wedding present to Erica and her husband.

I was attracted to this pattern because of the optical illusion of depth it creates.

I cast on 188 pairs of stitches because I wanted the borders to be thinner than the pattern calls for (about 2” all around).
